The next big one
Valve lists the Steam Winter Sale for 17 December 2026 to 4 January 2027, starting at 10am Pacific time, which is 6pm in the UK (Steamworks event calendar). It is usually the widest sale of the year, and fighting games and their older passes are commonly part of it.
How fighting games drop in price
- New releases hold their price. A game in its first few months, or one that has just started a new year of fighters, is rarely cut deeply.
- Old passes fall furthest. Once a game's last pass has finished, earlier passes and editions are often discounted by half or more.
- Base games dip before a new season. Publishers often cut the base game when a new pass starts, to bring new players in for the next run of fighters.
- Tournament weekends. Some publishers run their own discounts around big events. These are announced on the game's Steam page and social channels.
Watching a price without paying for it
Add a game to your Steam wishlist and Steam emails you when it goes on sale. It costs nothing and you do not need to visit the store each week.
