About Battle Themes

An independent UK site that reviews PC fighting games and prices every one of them in pounds.

Why "Battle Themes"

In a fighting game, every fighter walks out to their own theme, and every game has its own idea of what a fight should be: the Drive gauge in Street Fighter 6, Heat in Tekken 8, team order in King of Fighters, the edge of the stage in Rivals of Aether II. Those ideas are the real battle themes, and they are what we review.

What we do

We review fighting games that UK players can buy on PC, and we price them the way they are actually sold: the base game, then every pass and fighter that follows. Each review scores four rounds, gives one overall verdict, names the fighters to start with and lists what the whole cast costs on Steam UK.

How we stay independent

  • No publisher pays for a review, a score, a place on the card or a mention.
  • We carry no affiliate links. Store links go straight to the store and earn us nothing.
  • We buy the games we review or use copies bought for the site.
  • Prices come from Steam UK on the date printed on each page. When a sale ends, we update them.

Content you should know about

Every game on our card was checked for paid random rewards before we reviewed it, and none of the twelve sells them. Age ratings vary: some games are PEGI 12, others PEGI 16, and Invincible VS is PEGI 18. Each review shows the rating and the reasons PEGI gives.
