Invincible VS

Quarter Up, made up of people who worked on Killer Instinct, turns the animated series into a three-on-three tag fighter. It is fast and spectacular, and it is rated 18 for good reason.

7.6Our verdict, out of 10

Round one: the first night

Invincible VS is a three-on-three tag fighter with fast, flashy combos and a lot of style. The story mode was written by a writer of the animated series and runs six to eight hours; it is enjoyable, though reviewers rightly found it thin. Arcade, training and the Endless Ladder added in Season 1 round it out.

There is no simplified control mode that we could find, so newcomers should expect a steeper first night than in Tōkon.

It captures the show's mix of superhero colour and shock violence. That is exactly why it is rated PEGI 18.

Round two: online

Rollback netcode and crossplay across PS5, Xbox and PC are in from launch, and matches are smooth. There is no cross-progression, so your unlocks stay on the platform you bought on.

Queues are healthy for a game in its first year.

Round three: depth

The team of three, the tag-ins and the assist calls give the game a lot of room for creativity, and the Killer Instinct pedigree shows in how combos flow. The cast of 21 includes most of the show's major heroes and villains.

The violence is graphic, including the dismemberment the show is known for. It is rated PEGI 18; this is not one for younger players.

Round four: the bill

The usual price on Steam UK is £44.99, and on 4 November it was discounted to £26.99. The three new fighters so far cost £4.99 each, so the full cast is about £60 at usual prices. The outfit packs are many and pricey, a common complaint, but they are fixed-price and you can ignore them.

At today's price it is a good buy; at full price, wait for a sale.

Who to pick first

Invincible

Mark Grayson himself: fast, mobile and straightforward. The obvious first member of a team.

Atom Eve

Projectiles and shields for controlling space. A good partner who covers Invincible's approach.

Before your first ranked match

  1. Learn one assist and use it to cover your approach.
  2. Tag out a hurt fighter early; losing a fighter is losing a third of your team.
  3. Practise a single bread-and-butter combo for each team member before ranked.

Is it for you?

Buy it if

  • You love the show
  • You like fast tag-team fighters
  • You want something new for 2026

Skip it if

  • You are under 18 or playing with younger players
  • You want a simplified control mode
  • You dislike pricey outfit packs
7.6

The verdict

A fast, flashy and faithful tag fighter that gets the show right, violence included. It is a strong first year rather than a finished game, and best bought on sale.
